• At its facility in Salisbury, N.C., on Tuesday, Toyota Racing Development unveiled its 2013 Nascar Sprint Cup racecar, which is based on the Camry. Toyota emphasized the car’s aesthetic ties to the Camry production car: the brand’s Calty design studios in Newport Beach, Calif., collaborated with Toyota Racing on the car’s shape. For their 2013 Cup cars, automakers have emphasized their efforts to bring styling cues of their production vehicles to the racecars on which they are nominally based. (Nascar)

• On Monday, Ford Racing released photos of a clay model of its coming 2013 Fusion Sprint Cup car painted in traditional Motorcraft livery. The model, produced for Wood Brothers Racing by the Ford Design Center, is expected to be on view at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, where the Coca-Cola 600 is scheduled to be run on Sunday. • Mitsubishi recently unveiled a photo of the i-MiEV Evolution, a one-of-a-kind racer built for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado, scheduled for July 8. The purely electric racecar derives its name from the brand’s E.V., marketed as the i in the United States, and the discontinued Lancer Evolution series of rally-homologated sedans. Hiroshi Masuoka, a two-time winner of the Dakar Rally and the team manager for Mitsubishi, is scheduled to drive it. (Inside Line)

• Toyota announced Tuesday that as of April 30, global sales of its hybrid vehicles had surpassed four million units. The Japanese automaker introduced the Prius domestically in 1997 and took it to North American and European markets in 2000. This year hybrids have accounted for 15 percent of the company’s global sales, Toyota said. (Toyota)

• According to Variety, Martin Scorsese is to co-produce “Silver Ghost,” a feature film about the founding of Rolls-Royce. The script contains a narrative thread about the love affair between Eleanor Thornton and her employer, the 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, who commissioned a sculptor to render Ms. Thornton into a figurine to top the radiator of his Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. • The editors at Motor Trend clocked a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 at 11.6 seconds through the quarter mile. The reading improved on the official quarter-mile time of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which Chevy estimated at 11.96 seconds with a 6-speed manual transmission. (Motor Trend)

Un final molt tranquilet, no?
Per cert m'ha sobtat això de que entrin al pit i gairebé sense aturar-se els empentin i segueixin, perquè ho fan?
És que han de fer una entrada i parada obligatòria encara que no tinguin ni que repostar ni que canviar pneumàtics?

Efectivament, han de entrar a boxes parar i tornar a arrencar.....es similar al DTM que alla els fan canviar els pneumatics obligatoriament....doncs aci, el mateix, pero sense canviar res.
